BC Alumni Sponsor a Student

Fellow Eagles,

Many of us are blessed and are able to “weather the COVID-19 storm.” Cristo Rey SD serves families that are most vulnerable to job and pay cuts, and we are already witnessing this first hand as more and more families turn to Cristo Rey for a faith-based, college-preparatory education for their children.

So, I challenged the local Notre Dame Club to see who could raise $7,500 to sponsor a student first! They jumped at the challenge. The “Holy War” lives on! (I think they’re still mad about us beating them back in 1993.)

Cristo Rey San Diego's mission is to educate young people of limited economic means to become men and women of faith, purpose, and service, and prepared for life. The cost of educating a student is well over $16,000 per year. Families contribute what they can based on their household income, and each student works five days a month at an entry-level position which funds a large portion of their education. Yet, there is still a gap that must be covered by philanthropy. I invite you to invest in a Cristo Rey student’s education by joining the BC Alumni Cristo Rey San Diego Sponsor a Student campaign. For every $7,500 we raise, we fund the gap for one student to attend Cristo Rey San Diego.

Although we find ourselves in a tremendously challenging time, we also have faith that there is hope in every experience and our students and families continue to inspire us.
